Eight drawings by schoolchildren will light up Christmas in Madrid

Christmas in Madrid arrives with a particularly personal touch: eight children's drawings They will be displayed on the streetlights, transforming the creativity of the little ones into light and color along the busiest streets of the city center.

  • Donatto Paolo Rodríguez Morlet (CEIP Capitán Cortés), with "Merry Christmas".
  • Claudia Jiménez Orduño (Our Lady of Loreto School), with "Merry Christmas Madrid".
  • Pablo Soriano Moreno (Our Lady of Good Counsel School), with "Christmas".
  • Lucía Pedroche Ruiz (Colegio Centro Cultural Palomeras), with "Santa's Helpers".
  • Amber Vidal Angiolillo (Colegio Madres Concepcionistas), with «The lights of Bethlehem».

These works are in addition to a Special mention to two students with Down syndrome from the María Corredentora Special Education School, whose creations will also be incorporated into the lighting display.

Where to see them in the center of Madrid

The drawings have been transferred to lampposts that decorate six very central streets: La Sal, Gerona, Felipe III, Siete de Julio, Ciudad Rodrigo and Toledo, an easy itinerary to follow to enjoy the premiere with the family.

As a complement, the City Council maintains part of the designs from the previous edition in the environment of the Ballesta Street, reinforcing the continuity of the Christmas landscape already familiar to residents and visitors.

Lighting activation and coverage

The official lighting ceremony will cover more than 240 points distributed by the 21 districts of the capital, with LED technology to reduce consumption and ensure more efficient and sustainable lighting.

The opening ceremony in Cibeles will feature Carlos Sainz, two-time world rally champion and four-time Dakar winner, as master of ceremonies who will press the button at 19:00 p.m.

Christmas motifs and spirit

Among the themes that can be seen are Kings laden with gifts, smiling angels, and reindeer, a classic iconography reinterpreted from the perspective of children that brings freshness and a dose of spontaneity to the night landscape.

The initiative turns the youngest children into protagonists of Christmas and focuses on participation, inclusion and creativity as hallmarks of the celebration in the city.
