The talent born in El Bierzo is once again in the international spotlight: the studio of Pablo Guerrero from El Bierzo has been recognized with a Gold at the Pentawards for inclusive wine design 'Aspronauts', an initiative promoted by the Asprona Bierzo association.
The distinction, awarded in Amsterdam, is part of the so-called 'Oscars of design' and rewards creativity in Design with Purpose, highlighting its combination of art, sustainability and social impact with a Bercian seal.
A wine with purpose and roots in Bierzo
Aspronautas is much more than an oenological reference: it is a project of real inclusion. Four people with intellectual disabilities —Teresa, Baldomero, Miguel and Guillermo— have recovered plots of old vineyards in La Grisuela (Cubillos del Sil)Within the Denomination of Origin Bierzo, participating in field work and in the visual identity.
The drawings of these "aspronauts" become labels in the shape of rocket that wrap the bottle and tell of their own journey. The MencÃa had already been distinguished with the award 'El Maestro' for the best young red wine, and now its packaging takes a qualitative leap on the international scene.
From El Bierzo to the international gala
The edition held in Amsterdam brought together global brands such as Google, Heineken and Samsung, more than 2.000 applications from 60 countriesIn this competitive environment, Aspronautas prevailed in its category thanks to its human approach and visual execution.
Guerrero took the stage accompanied by the protagonists of wine, at a moment full of symbolism for the region and for those who have made the project possible from the vineyard to the label.
The gala coincided with the 750th anniversary of the city, a stage that highlighted the international projection of the design being made from territories with their own identity such as El Bierzo.
Design details and supports that made it possible
The packaging exploits every element of the bottle to tell a story: from the sealing wax to the cardboard fins, everything reinforces the idea of journey and ascent, connecting the daily effort in the vineyard with an optimistic visual narrative.
The project has had the selfless collaboration of Coreti (label printing)The winery 13 Vineyards, the typographers of Tightype and the web Lacre.es, an ecosystem of allies that has allowed us to fine-tune every technical and aesthetic detail.
In addition to the Gold, Aspronautas appeared as finalist for the People's Choice Award, a recognition decided by popular vote that endorses the project's connection with audiences in different countries.
Study trajectory and relevance of the award
The Pablo Guerrero Study accumulates more than six international awards and a career spanning more than a decade specializing in wine and food design, including several gold medals in recent editions of the Pentawards.
This new recognition consolidates the idea that design can be engine of inclusion and development: places Bierzo on the global branding map and offers a benchmark for projects where creativity and social commitment go hand in hand.
The Pentawards gold medal to Aspronautas sums up local talent, collaboration and purpose: a bottle that takes off from the Bercian vineyard to international stages without losing its roots or its social vocation.
