Ford has secretly designed a new emoji for a pickup truck, seemingly out of nowhere, to sneak advertising into our heads without us even realizing it. It appears this is what we've learned today, and it's quite surprising, because who would have thought emojis could ever be used for advertising?
From their Twitter account , they've taken the wheel and driven a series of phrases to announce the creation of a new pickup truck emoji. The occasion was the 100th anniversary of Ford vehicles and World Emoji Day.
It was yesterday, July 17th, that Ford announced its pickup truck emoji on what is now known as World Emoji Day (are we a little crazy, aren't we?). The emoji in question logically uses the blue color that identifies the brand, and they haven't exactly been subtle about including those headlights that are linked to the brand.
So how long will it be before we see a red soft drink emoji ? Or a Burger King or McDonald's hamburger? It seems like it'll be difficult to stand out in such a small space for an emoji, but we wouldn't be surprised at all if we started seeing them. Here, one person has an idea, and hundreds follow...

The worst part is that those in charge of Unicode , which is like the emoji standard, have made it clear that Ford's sponsorship should have been made public so everyone would know that there's a lot of money behind that pickup truck.
We 'll see if it eventually arrives on those operating systems , and everyone will decide whether or not to incorporate an emoji that's clearly advertising. It's also up to us to veto it and use those rather ugly cars that perfectly represent the automotive industry, driving, and speed.
